Sleeping Bags Are Optional
Thornwood is a premier boarding facility in Ada, Michigan. We are one of the few dog boarding facilities offering connected, individual indoor/outdoor runs allowing your pet much greater space and opportunity for exercise. There are 58 kennel units available, constructed of wood and spacious enough to accommodate up to two large dogs in the same kennel should you be a multi-dog family. The outdoor runs are concrete divided by chain-link fence. We offer boarding at Thornwood Veterinary Clinic to both clients and non-clients.

Special Services for Canine Boarders
Dog Daycare
We offer a few optional services for your dog when they board with us at Thornwood. We offer daycare to boarding dogs for ½ day sessions at a cost of $25. Doggy daycare provides a supervised, safe, and social environment for dogs while their owners are at work or otherwise occupied during the day.
Dog Walks While Boarding
If your dog would like additional exercise, we offer outdoor walks on our private trail circling the Thornwood Campus. Walks are $17. Your pet will get plenty of fresh air and exercise, and may even get an introduction to our farm animals (safely through the fence, of course). These walks last approximately 20 minutes.
Boarding Vaccine & Fecal Policy
Our goal is to provide a happy, safe, and disease-free stay for all of our boarding, grooming, and daycare guests, and our employees. Pets who do not have a documented negative fecal or who are overdue on required vaccinations cannot participate. All vaccinations must have been administered by a veterinarian.
Canine Requirements
Must be current on:
- Rabies
- Distemper/Parvo Virus
- Bordetella (required every 6 months)
- Fecal (required every 6 months)
- Canine Influenza
Pets Overdue for Vaccines or Fecal Check
Vaccines and fecal checks can be done during the stay for pets with previous records (past vaccine and fecal records less than 1-year past due).
Pets grossly overdue (> 1 year past due) or never vaccinated or fecal checked must be inoculated and have a clean fecal prior to drop off. Rabies must be given 3 weeks prior to boarding, grooming, or participating in daycare. Pets who do not have a documented negative fecal cannot participate.
There will be an exam fee for non–clients or pets who are not current on their health exam in order to update vaccines.
Puppies
Puppies under 4 months of age must be appropriate within their vaccine series and have a documented negative fecal prior to boarding.
Fleas and Worms
Dogs discovered to have fleas or internal parasites while boarding will be treated at the owner’s expense (this is pre-authorized by the Boarding Release) and a $40 disinfection/cleaning fee will also be assessed.
Drop off and Pick up Time
Boarding drop-off and pick-up times are Monday – Friday 8am-6pm. Weekend drop-offs and pick-ups are available but must be pre-arranged and pre-paid during normal office hours.
Once pre-arranged, Saturday drop-off and pick-up times are 8am-10am and 5pm. Sunday is 5pm only.
